“A TREAT FROM SANTA”15 handbills
Hazleton, Pa.This is a group of 15 identical advertising handbills or broadsides or small posters, for a Christmas penny candy produced by the Dry Syrup Co. of America, in Hazleton, Pennsylvania.Each piece is 11 inches wide and 9 inches high. They are blank on the back side. They are printed in the seasonal colors of green and red, and have a small illustration of the candy\'s wrapper, saying \"A Treat Direct from Santy Claus\", and showing Santa climbing a snow-covered roof toward a chimney.The handbills are in Fine condition. They are not dated, and I do not have any information on the history of the candy company which produced it, but my very rough guesstimate of when they originated is that, stylistically, it most looks like a piece of ephemera from somewhere in the 1930s-1950s era. (Take a look at the photos and make your own guess!) (I myself got them at a local flea market the mid-1980s.) Its text says, in part:* * * * *1¢ A TREAT FROM SANTA 1¢
