Signed photo of JFK with personal dedication (secretarial signature) to Billy Gus (11" x 8 3/4") together with the certificate from Marine Helicopter Squadron One from 1962 (12 5/8" x 9 5/8"). There is a personal story behind those pictures written down by the widow of Billy, Sherry C. Gus.
Billy Guss' MiracleHe was your basic 13 years old boy. He had 4 home runs (in the Little League baseball game) and tried out for the Junior Olympic swimming team.In Quantico, Virginia, they were expecting a big snowstorm and the kids got out of school early.Billy was standing on one side of the Horseshoe Driveway (in from of the school). He threw a snowball at the ice coated high tension wire. It broke the wire and it came flying past hundreds of kids and hit Billy.Billy was electrocuted and spent the next two weeks I'm medically induced coma (due to the severe burns). His first human contact was a doctor... who said...how come you are still alive?Billy's father , a Marine Corps aviator, was stationed at the White House...as and aide to President John F. Kennedy (who sent his private helicopter to pick-up Billy at school and bring him to the Children's Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland). He only lost 6 months of school (he was in the hospital for this time) and went on to graduate from college.Billy lost his arm and his foot at 13 years old...but he was the least handicapped person I've ever known. That's why I fell so deeply in love and married this amazing person... I'm so thankful that he was sent to me.
