🪖 1946 American Legion Philadelphia Medal – Honoring WWI & WWII Veterans
This is more than a medal… it’s a moment in history you can hold in your hand.
Issued in August 1946, just after the end of World War II, this original American Legion medal honors the men who served in both World War I and World War II — a generation that shaped the modern world.
Crafted with rich detail and symbolism, this piece connects directly to American Legion and the city of Philadelphia — one of the most historic places in the nation.
🕰️ The Story:Imagine 1946 — the war has ended, soldiers are returning home, and communities across America are coming together to honor their veterans.
This medal was part of that moment.
It may have been worn in a parade, presented at a ceremony, or kept as a proud reminder of service. And here’s the part that makes pieces like this so compelling…
Who did this belong to?
A soldier? A local hero? Someone who lived through both world wars?
That story is lost to time — but the medal remains.
