2 Antique Roemer Wine Glasses, German Drinking Toasts, Likely Theresienthal (E):
$61.30

Set of two antique (late 19th, early 20th century) German Roemer wine glasses featuring a beautiful hand-painted inscription in old German script, encircled with delicate red and white enamel details. The glass is a classic smoky olive green color, with a thick stem adorned with decorative applied prunts. These glasses would likely have been in a set with a punch bowl (not available) and were likely made by Theresienthal, although they are not marked.

Both glasses are adorned with classic German toasts and proverbs associated with celebratory drinking. One glass reads (I think) "Was den Geist erfreut, Thut dem Leib pein Leid" (I believe this means something like What pleases the spirit causes distress to the body). The second glass reads, "Wo der Rhein am schönsten ist, auch die beste Rebe spriesst." (Where the Rhine is most beautiful, the best vines also sprout).

CONDITION: GOOD
(Poor-->Fair-->Good-->Very Good-->Excellent-->Mint):
There are a couple tiny flea bites/chips along the rim of one glass. The second glass has a small chip on the bottom rim. Some wear to the gold bands on the stems.

MARKINGS: None.

I aim to please, and describe every item to the best of my ability. But please note that my vintage items often received frequent use back in their day, so may show visible signs of wear and age. Personally, I wouldn't have it any other way, as I treasure those marks of the past. Related Items:
