Motherhood, Victorian Style: Love, Babies & Very Little Sleep
Three charming antique Victorian photographic art cards depicting the joys, tenderness, and occasional exhaustion of motherhood.
The Watchful Mother: A woman sits beside her infant’s cradle, her head resting heavily against her hand and her eyes seemingly closed. Perhaps she’s watching over her sleeping baby. Perhaps she’s fallen asleep herself. Either way, somebody deserves a nap.
The Busy Mother: A beautifully dressed woman cradles an infant while another small child climbs the staircase nearby. One baby in her arms, another child on the move. Some things never change.
The Tender Mother: A woman leans beside a wicker cradle, where the faint little face of a baby can be seen nestled among the bedding. A quiet, intimate scene of maternal affection.
