If you love crystals with deep internal structures and a lot of character in a more compact size, this is a spectacular miniature piece.
Offered for sale is a beautiful, naturally terminated quartz crystal exhibiting classic "skeletal" or "fenster" (German for window) growth. This phenomenon occurs when the crystal grows faster along its edges than its faces, creating deep, geometric cavities and stepped, hoppered layers. During its rapid ancient growth, this specific crystal naturally trapped rich red clay and iron inclusions within those hollow cavities, creating incredible three-dimensional pockets of vibrant red and orange against the glassy quartz. The crystal has excellent translucency, giving it an almost "melting ice" appearance as the light passes through its complex inner architecture.

About the Locality:
Madagascar is globally renowned for producing some of the most fascinating and diverse quartz variations on the market. Its ancient, deeply weathered pegmatite belts are famous for yielding these unusual skeletal formations. Because the region is heavily rich in laterite (red clay soil) and iron, these minerals are often beautifully integrated into the rapid growth cycles of the quartz, creating striking bi-color window crystals like this one.
