Description Offered for Sale is this Beautiful 19th century Oval Bentwood Brides Box with incised decoration. I see no makers mark on the box. The box is held together by wooden pegs, nails and a stranded material that I have been unable to clearly identify (attaches the two bent wood halves together). The locking mechanism that turns (looks like a flag) appears to have coated wire holding it in place, allowing it to float as designed. This Large Antique Brides Box would be a Great Addition to any Pantry Box, Firkin, Pail, Brides' Box Collection.Note: I have recently secured a large lot of Antique pantry boxes, pails, firkins and brides' boxes. Size: Length 20" - Width 13" - Height 9 3/4"
Condition: - Fair to Good Overall Used Condition. The box displays scratching, nicking, chipping, staining, wear, material loss and "In The Making" imperfections. The interior bottom of the box is split / separated. There are a few paint splatter spots on the exterior rear of the box. Please see the pictures to view the condition of the item for yourself.
