Antique French Prosser bead rosary dating back to the 1860s. This off-white pocket rosary is a collectible piece that holds religious significance as a symbol of Christianity. Jean-Flix Bapterosses acquired the Prosser patent rights and adapted the porcelain-and-glass paste formula adding cow's milk for flexibility and sheen to mass-produce beads at his factory in Briare, France in the 1860's. This rosary was found among many items in a wooden box at a convent sale at Sacred Heart Church in New Haven CT. This rosary is MINT CONDITION. The approximate dating is 1860's. This rosary has been rubbed with blessed holy oil and is a beautiful example. We discovered about 200 antique rosaries in the same lot we believe someone in the church held these rosaries for many many years. Check our other sales.
