Rare Antique 1880s German Porcelain Courting Couple Figurine Set – By August Rappsilber (A.R.)
Up for sale or sale is a beautiful, highly collectible matching pair of authentic 19th-century German porcelain figurines. Both pieces feature the genuine blue underglaze Crown over "A.R." backstamp on their base interiors, placing their production strictly between 1877 and 1886 at the Porzellanfabrik August Rappsilber factory in Königszelt, Germany.
Item Details:
• Design & Theme: An elegant Rococo/Baroque-era courting couple. The Gentleman Musician is dressed in a yellow doublet and period breeches, seated against a tree stump while playing a lute/mandolin. The matching Lady companion wears an intricate laced corset-style bodice with a green bonnet and carries a traditional lidded porcelain stein/pitcher.
• Ornate Bases: Both figures stand on detailed, tree-stump bases accented with relief-molded leaves, pastel grapevines, and hand-finished flower clusters.
• Backstamp Evidence: Stamped clearly underneath with the historical cobalt blue "Crown AR" mark. A stamped design number is also present on the lady's base.
Condition Report:
• Excellent Antique Condition for their age. No major breaks, cracks, or visible historic repairs on either body or face.
• Note to Collectors: Because these pieces are nearly 150 years old and feature delicate extremities, please view all macro photos closely. There may be minor manufacturing kiln marks or tiny wear spots on the paint consistent with age and display. Related Items:
