On August 30,1929, an ad appeared in a newspaper showing the AtwaterKent Model 55 Radio in the Kiel Table was selling for $179. That was 94 years ago!
The Table was made by the Kiel Furniture Company of Milwaukee. The table was made to accommodate the chaissis of the model 55 (and 60). Of interest was this Kiel Table had a duel function. The bottom of the rear right leg has a male plug for an extension cord to plug into a socket. The left rear leg has a female plug so a table lamp can be plugged directly into the table, thus has a duel function, radio and area to plug in a lamp. I haven't tested the radio as of yet but all seems to be complete and intact. I obtained this wonderful collectible from a neighbor's granddaughter. Her grandfather was a Colonel. I helped her when she was selling the home and her antiques. I have not tried to play it but all parts appear intact. This was a gift and a pleasant surprise. I have not tested if it functions.
