Antique Boot Shoe Union Adverting Tape Measure ILGWU Ladies Garment Ruler Sewing.
Description: These two colorful union advertising sewing tools,dating from the 1910s - 30s,are bothlaborunion-related, and clothing related, so I'm offering them together. The celluloid tape measure, made by Whitehead & Hoag, is an advertising premium for the Boot and Shoe Workers Union. It has great graphics of an early 1900's boot on both sides of the piece. The ILGWU 6" ruler is an advertising premium for the International Garment Workers Union. It features their song, Look for the Union Label
Condition: Both are in excellent antique condition.The spring is tight and the tape pulls out and retracts easily; it doesn't stay out on it's own, you need to hold it out as you do your measure.(See photos.)
Size: Ruler is approx. 6 1/4" L and the tape measure is about 1 1/2" diam.
