Antique Fairy Tale Tin “The Wolf and the Seven Little Goats” c.1900–1930 – Rare:
$35.00
Offered here is a genuine early 20th century lithographed tin, featuring the classic fairy tale “The Wolf and the Seven Little Goats”, originally collected by the Brothers Grimm.
Historical context:This type of small tin originally contained a moistening sponge, commonly used in offices and households between circa 1900 and 1930. The sponge was used to moisten postage stamps, envelopes, or paper seals, long before self-adhesive stamps existed. These tins were popular desk accessories and often decorated with fairy tales to appeal to both adults and children.
Fairy-tale themed tins from this period were typically produced in Germany or the Netherlands, where high-quality lithography was widely used for everyday objects.
