Antique Halloween Postcard – Pumpkin Head Children, Three Black Cats & Corn Husking Fortune
Wonderful antique Halloween postcard featuring four adorable children wearing pumpkin-shaped hats, gathered around a traditional autumn corn-husking scene.
The beautifully detailed illustration features colorful costumes, golden cornstalks, and three playful black cats decorating the orange and blue border. The artwork captures the charm of early Halloween celebrations and traditional holiday fortune-telling customs.
The postcard features the greeting “Hallowe’en Greeting” along with the delightful vintage verse:
“May fortune grant I may be near
Should you perchance find a red ear”
The verse references the old corn-husking tradition in which finding a red ear of corn was associated with romantic fortune and the possibility of receiving a kiss.
