A characterful small antique hand-made wooden thumb plane — a one-of-a-kind shop-made tool from a Victorian craftsman's workshop. Roughly carved from beech with all the honest character of a handmade working tool.
TYPE & USE:
A small thumb-style plane (~10cm long), used for one-handed finishing work, delicate detail jobs, end grain, or anywhere a full-size smoother is too cumbersome. Shop-made planes like this were carved by individual craftsmen for specific tasks, and each one has its own personality — no two are identical.
CONSTRUCTION:
- Beech body, approximately 10cm (4 inches) long- Roughly shaped with rounded top and flat sole- Tall thumb-style wedge with finial- Narrow cutting iron, present and seated- Genuinely hand-carved (not factory production)
CONDITION:
