Antique M. Valle y Cía. / La Flor de Cuba Cigar Company Framed Telegram & Business Correspondence
Fascinating framed collection of early 20th-century business ephemera connected to historic cigar manufacturer M. Valle y Cía. / La Flor de Cuba.
The display contains two period documents:
• Postal Telegraph–Commercial Cables telegram received at 607 Franklin Street, Tampa, Florida, referencing M. Valle Co. and apparent shipping/business instructions.
• M. Valle y Cía. letterhead displaying the historic La Flor de Cuba – Habana mark and the company’s New York Office, 111 Fifth Avenue.
• Lower correspondence bears a handwritten signature that has not been positively identified.
• Both documents are presented together in an older framed display with dark matting.
M. Valle y Cía. was associated with the historic La Flor de Cuba cigar brand and the Cuban/American cigar trade. M. Valle later maintained cigar-manufacturing operations in Tampa, making the Tampa Postal Telegraph correspondence particularly interesting.
The Postal Telegraph form bears Design Patent No. 36369 and identifies Clarence H. Mackay as president, consistent with Postal Telegraph forms used during the early 1900s.
Condition: Documents show substantial age-related toning, fading, discoloration, creasing and other wear consistent with antique paper. Lower typed correspondence is extremely faded and difficult to read. Frame and matting show age/storage wear. There is visible residue/damage to the upper-right area of the mat. Please examine all photographs carefully for exact condition.
Important: Documents and signature have not been professionally authenticated. Age and historical attribution are based on the visible company names, addresses, markings and period characteristics. Sold as found.
A unique display piece for collectors of antique cigar memorabilia, tobacciana, Cuban cigar history, Tampa/Ybor City history, Postal Telegraph memorabilia, or early American business ephemera.
