$79.95
Up for sale is an authentic antique Art Nouveau / Jugendstil pewter decorative dish produced by the renowned Van Houten Manufacturing Co. of Bonn, Germany, circa 1900.This rare piece features the factory model stamp 1245 on the reverse. Collectors of German metalware may recognize this design as the highly sought-after sister design to the factory's 1246 leaf tray. Model 1245 offers its own distinct, beautifully balanced layout of embossed poppies, fluid organic stems, and an integrated leaf-stem pierced handle.Sharing the organic aesthetic, matte lead-free appearance, and high-quality low-relief craftsmanship of contemporary Kayserzinn (such as Hugo Leven designs) or Orivit pewter from the same historic Rhineland region, this piece is a wonderful representation of classic German Jugendstil artistry.Originally designed as an Edwardian bonbon dish or calling-card tray, it serves perfectly today as a classic decorative centerpiece, vanity jewelry catchall, or a standout addition to any antique pewter collection.Excellent antique condition consistent with age and material. It retains a beautiful, deep, untouched original historic patina with minimal surface wear. Please see the photos for condition.
