Antique WWI TRENCH ART AIRPLANE MODEL 1874 GERMAN 10 PFENNIG COINS BRASS:
$75.00
ESTATE PIECE: A remarkable handcrafted model aircraft and an authentic piece of World War I trench art. The fuselage appears to be made from a cartridge case, with hand-shaped metal parts forming the propeller, struts, tail, and landing gear.
Six genuine German Empire 10-Pfennig coins dated 1874 are soldered onto the aircraft—four arranged as wings and two at the tail. The coins were made decades before World War I and later incorporated into the model.
The wheel rings appear to be repurposed artillery fuze components; a visible marking looks like “18 S 15.” The fuselage may be a French 8mm Lebel cartridge case, and the other components appear to include brass and copper. These specific component identifications have not been independently confirmed, and the exact aircraft model is unknown.
The propeller, landing gear, and tail pieces are all present. Please review all photos closely for construction, markings, patina, and condition. The aircraft pictured is the one you’ll receive.
