$188.25
Lovely white enamelled ceramic advertising pyrogen, bearing the inscription in black letters "ABSINTHE BARBER - PONTARLIER - DOUBS".
An authentic French bistro piece from the Belle Époque, when each counter sported these elegant little advertising items, used to light cigarettes or pipes using matches.""
The grooved surface accommodated the matches to rub, while the center tank kept them dry. This conical model, with its sober typography, evokes the refinement of Pontarlier’s distilleries, mythical cradle of absinthe.
