Mid Century Perfume Atomizer-Cased Cut to Amber-Hand Painted-Bohemian Style-1955Description:Mid-Century amber glass cased with milk glass and cut to amber hand painted perfume atomizer. Attributed to Leopald Palda, Vienna, Wien, Austria – 1955I have the matching powder jar listed, also. Check it out!The glass blower layered white milk glass over a rich, golden amber/honey core, and then a master cutter cut windows through the outer white layer explicitly designed to slice through the white milk glass skin, creating clear amber windows that catch the light. The bottle is decorated with enamel flower groupings with a color palette of pink roses, blue and orange daisies and forget-me-nots with green leaves. This motif is on three sides. The six elongated windows have gold enamel scrollwork as do the three double teardrop windows, which are also outlined with gold enamel.Size:8 ¾ tall2 ¾” wide14 ozMarkings:Bergdorf Goodman Department store label:

Although I have no proof/catalog that these were made by Leopold Palda, I have seen very similar items in his 1955 Famosa LPW catalog. It was not that unusual for different glass makers to have items painted by cottage industries and therefore, designs and motifs would sometimes appear on products made/sold by different makers.This style of glass cutting and enameling was used in the 19th century as well as the 20th. I do not believe this item was made prior to 1950s, due to the hardware and the plastic siphon, as well as the Bergdorf Goodman label. It still is often referred to as Bohemian and Moser glass, which may have been the case previously.
