Please take a look at my other rare stereoviews of Upstate New York.
Stereoview of Mount Morris, New York. This stereoview dates to the early 1860s, andpossibly late 1850s. In the distance, onleft, is a crowd assembled for some event.Perhaps that event was the reason for the photo. This stereoview waspart of the Robert Joki upstate New York collection that I obtained in 2012.
Provenance:The stereoview in this listing is from the Robert Joki collection. Joki was a collector of New York statestereoviews, and Saratoga Springs, in particular. His Saratoga collection is now at theSaratoga Springs Public Library. Hewrote a book titled “Saratoga Lost: Images of Victorian America” with imagesfrom his collection. His book, as of thetime that I am writing this, is available on (among other places). In 2012 I was able to obtain part of hiscollection of upstate New York at the 2012 D.C. Photo Show. Most I sold shortly thereafter, but I held onto what I thought were the earliest and/or the most interesting. It’s now time to let them go and youropportunity to own a piece of New York history.
