Original vintage press photo of the Lockheed F-117 Nighthawk, the world's first operational stealth aircraft, shown in low-altitude flight over a desert test range with gear down. Distinctive faceted, angular airframe with outward-canted twin tail fins.
The F-117 was developed in complete secrecy at Lockheed's Skunk Works, flying operationally out of Tonopah Test Range, Nevada from 1983 — years before its existence was even publicly acknowledged by the Pentagon in November 1988. It went on to become famous for its role opening the air war over Baghdad in 1991.
Printed on period Kodak photo paper. A striking image of one of the most iconic aircraft of the Cold War stealth era.
