Offered here is an "AS NEW" copy of Percy Crosby's Skippy Daily Comics Volume 1, 1924-1927, a gorgeous hardcover collection from IDW Publishing. The original lower-third style dust jacket is still intact and near mint. Although the shrinkwrap is no longer sealed, the book remains loosely wrapped in the original opened shrinkwrap.

Skippy was one of the most popular comic strips of the late 1920s through the mid-1930s, and glancing at the captivating strips in this first entry in IDW's complete reprinting of the title, it's not hard to see why. The daily installments reprinted here define the daily pleasures and challenges of life for Skippy, a fun-loving kid who could also wax philosophical when the occasion required. Charles M. Schulz acknowledged Skippy as a primary influence on Peanuts, and Bill Watterson clearly admired the strip, which was also an obvious inspiration for Calvin and Hobbes. Other comic masters who admired Percy Crosby and Skippy include Jules Feiffer and Milt Caniff.

IDW published the complete Skippy daily comic strips in four volumes published in the 2010s, and all of them are now, sadly, out of print. Because this book was published with a "banner" dust jacket that only covered the bottom third of the book, it's very hard to find a copy in like new condition, since the DJ is usually either torn or completely missing. That's obviously not an issue with this copy, which is AS NEW with the banner style dust jacket still in place. Related Items:
