Vintage McEwan's Scotch Au Fut Lighted Bar Sign - 29" x 9.5" Beer Pub Decor
Description
Up for sale is a vintage McEwan's Scotch Au Fut lighted brewery bar sign—an exceptional piece of vintage beer advertising decor for a home bar, man cave, pub, or breweriana collection!
History & Brand Origin:
Brewery History: Founded in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1856 by William McEwan, McEwan's became legendary for its rich Scottish ales.
Continental Export Heritage: The French phrase "Scotch Au Fut" translates to "Scotch on Tap" (draft/cask Scotch ale). During the mid-to-late 20th century, Scottish heavy ales built a strong following across continental Europe (especially France and Belgium), prompting specialized French-language marketing pieces like this sign.
Collectible Vintage Build: Featuring classic metal housing and internal fluorescent lighting components (OSRAM ballast setup), this design is no longer produced. Modern commercial signs use lightweight LEDs, making these older, metal-backed fluorescent fixtures highly sought after by collectors.
Item Specifications:
Brand/Subject: McEwan's Scotch Au Fut
Dimensions: 29" Long x 9.5" High
Front Panel: Durable, tough clear/yellow plastic face with bold McEwan's logo lettering and red/green tartan border accenting.
Housing/Backing: Metal back housing with attached hanging chain for wall mounting.
Lighting Mechanics: Internal fluorescent bulb setup with OSRAM ballast.
Condition:
Functional State: In great working order.
Cosmetic State: Very good vintage condition with minor surface wear, light scuffs, and slight age-appropriate patina on the housing/chain consistent with commercial pub use.
Electrical Note: Back label indicates a 220V setup. Buyers outside 220V standard power regions (e.g., standard 110V US household outlets) may require a step-up voltage transformer or converter for proper operation.
