This lighter is getting harder and harder to find.Very rare vintage lighter.
Zippo Patent Number 2032695.
It features thewith the wing and wheel with flags engraved on one side and "From Tony & Wilbur" in black on the other.
Stainless steel case with five 5 barrel hinge.
There is a very small mark on the side of the lighter. Please check photos carefully.
The Zippo Candy Stripe box is in very good condition and has a split in 2 corners, but the box has no repairs.
Also a Zippo instruction sheet is included in this sale as shown.
Condition is new in box. This was bought at the Mary Hulman George Estate Sale in Terre Haute. This lighter was in the basement of the museum. Never used.
Those viewing this sale will most likely know of the history of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
But for those that don't, in part:Tony Hulman and Wilber Shaw purchased the speedway after WWII. Wilber Shaw was a three time Indy 500 winner and was made president by Tony Hulman the businessman of the organization. Together they restored the failing facility Indianapolis track into a profitable, and thriving racing facility.How these very special Zippo Indinapolis Motor Speedway lighters were distributed, or whom they presented these rare Zippo lighters is unknown to me.Please ask any questions that you might have, as I will be glad to answer those for you as best I can.
