Royal Doulton "Granny" HN1832 Figurine Rare Pre-War 1930s Bone China England HTF:
$845.99
Up for sale is this exceptional and genuinely hard-to-find Royal Doulton "Granny" HN1832 figurine — a rare pre-war piece dating to approximately 1937-1938, identified by the UK design registration number Rd No. 816195 stamped clearly on the base.
This stunning figurine depicts a cheerful elderly woman seated at a tea table, dressed in a richly detailed floral red shawl over a cream dress with green floral hem detail, wearing a traditional white cap. The piece features the beautiful iridescent lustre glaze characteristic of Royal Doulton's finest pre-war production, giving it a warm, luminous quality rarely seen in later pieces. The tea table includes a fully modeled teapot and teacup — an extraordinary level of detail for the period.
Condition is very good for a piece of this age — no chips, a few hairline and other cracks, no crazing, no repairs. Glaze and lustre are vivid and fully intact. Hand-painted facial details are crisp and undamaged. Fine detail on the tea table, teapot, and cup are all fully intact. Minor age-appropriate darkening to the unglazed base edge only, consistent with a nearly 90-year-old piece.
The backstamp is clear and fully legible — "Granny" Rd No. 816195 HN1832 with the Royal Doulton lion and crown "Made in England" mark. Production number 11 is also visible, indicating an early production run.
This is an extremely scarce figurine. Examples rarely come to market and sell quickly when they do. A must-have for serious Royal Doulton collectors, pre-war porcelain enthusiasts, and collectors of British bone china. Would make an exceptional centerpiece in any collection of HN Series, vintage English figurines, or antique porcelain.
Do not miss this opportunity — pieces like this simply do not appear often.
