This is a beautiful set of 2 loose, authentic matching pair of vintage Korean Celadon (Cheongja) art plates. These stunning lotus-shaped plates feature gracefully scalloped rims and a deeply incised, exquisite peony floral relief pattern pooled beautifully under a glossy jade-green glaze. The reverse base ring of both plates features the hand-brushed calligraphic signature "Hyocheon", the artistic studio name of Kwon Tae-hyur. Apprenticed under legendary masters and officially recognized as a Ceramic Great Master by South Korea, his passing led to the permanent closure of the Hyocheon Kiln. True studio-signed masterpieces of his work are highly collectible and finite. Matching set of 2 plates (loose, no gift box). Handcrafted in Icheon, South Korea (Authentic Goryeo Dynasty Revival Style). The pattern is Scalloped lotus edge profile with a center peony relief medallion. The finish is clear jade-green glaze showcasing a tight, traditional "crackle" finish (Bingyeol/Gaewon). Both plates are signed by hand in iron pigment by Master Kwon Tae-hyun on the plates base. This set is in excellent vintage condition with absolutely NO chips, flecks, structural cracks, or repairs along the delicate scalloped rims or glaze bodies. Please note that the dense network of spiderweb lines across the surface is a deliberate, highly desirable traditional "crackle glaze" technique meant to replicate natural jade stone texture; it is completely stable and is not a defect or damage. These plates will be heavily, individually wrapped with bubble wrap and double boxed to insure safe delivery.
