The Jefferson Golden Hour was the first mystery clock produced by Jefferson Electric Company. The Golden Hour was not the only mystery clock produced by Jefferson. The company went on to produce other models of mystery clocks. They were not the first company to produce this type of clock. The patent process on this clock was a complicated one. The patent was actually purchased rather than it being an original one.
In raised lettering on the maroon plastic base is written;JeffersonGolden Hour (in script)electric clockJEFFERSON ELECTRIC COMPANY BELLWOOD, ILLINOIS115 V. A.C. 60 CY ONLY 2.5 WATTSCAT. NO. 580-101PATENT PENDING(UL in its circle off to the side.)
This working Golden Hour clock is in overall very good condition. It keeps excellent time. There is a tiny chip in the gold ring at the top of the back edge of it but the ring is in excellent condition other than that. The glass has no cracks. The surface of the base feels a bit rough to the touch. The maroon plastic bottom suffers no ill effects except the felt furniture protective pads are a bit worn.
