Vintage Japanese Sake Drinking Game 🍶🎲Throw the die and see what happens!
This wonderfully unusual vintage Japanese porcelain set is actually a miniature sake drinking game. Three graduated square cups and a tiny porcelain die turn serving sake into a playful party game—the roll of the die determines whether you drink from one of the cups, sing a song, perform a dance…or get lucky and do nothing!
I’ve paired the original game with a coordinating blue-and-white porcelain sake bottle, making this a beautiful ready-to-display barware set and a particularly fun gift for a sake lover.
🎲 How the Game Works
Roll the porcelain die. Depending on which symbol lands face-up, you:
• Drink from the biggest cup
• Drink from the medium cup
• Drink from the smallest cup
• Sing a song
• Perform a dance
• Nothing — lucky you!
The instruction sheet describes it as:
“A miniature of a traditional Japanese sake game.”
🍶 What You Receive
5 porcelain pieces total:
• 1 coordinating sake bottle / tokkuri
• 3 graduated square drinking-game cups
• 1 miniature porcelain game die
Also included:
• A full page copy of the instructions based on the original, making the game much easier to display and use
PLEASE NOTE: The blue-and-white floral sake bottle was acquired separately and is not an original component of the drinking game. I have included it because it coordinates beautifully with the indigo-and-white porcelain and makes a lovely serving and display set.
💙 About the Porcelain Game
The pieces are hand painted in indigo blue under glaze on finest quality porcelain.
The graduated cups represent traditional Japanese sake measures:
