Vintage 1941 Family Beach Life Lot 6 Photos 1.75x2.5-2.75x4.5 B&W Gelatin OrigOriginal vintage 1941 black-and-white American family photographs on paper, offered as a lot of six snapshot views of women, beach outings, domestic houses, and a lakeside cabin landscape.
One vertical beach portrait shows a woman in a swimsuit seated on large rocks at the water's edge with other figures and boulders in the background, while another group portrait pictures three young women standing arm-in-arm along a railing or promenade with water and a faint city skyline beyond.
A lively beach scene captures swimsuit-clad men forming a human pyramid on the sand amid a dense crowd of bathers and sun umbrellas, conveying midcentury seaside leisure.
Domestic scenes include a square-format view of three adults gathered outside a low brick-and-frame house under construction, with open sandy ground in the foreground, and a separate lakefront snapshot showing a sloping grassy yard with cabin buildings, trees, and an automobile parked near the shoreline. The lakeside view also bears a cursive ink annotation along the lower front margin.
The smallest snapshot features a woman posed on a towel outdoors in a grass-skirt costume with floral leis and a decorative belt, smiling toward the camera.
The photographs are gelatin-silver prints on single-weight paper, several with scalloped borders along the edges. Versos are plain or lightly marked, including a pencil inscription reading "July 1941" on the back of the three-women portrait and stamped or penciled numeric codes such as 12, 028M, and G 758.
A handwritten reference slip pictured with the group describes it as "American Family Life Set of 6 Vintage Photos ≈ 1950s 1940s" and lists approximate print sizes.
Actual Measurements: ≈ 2.75" x 4.5", ≈ 3.5" x 3.25", ≈ 3.5" x 3.5", ≈ 2.5" x 3.5", ≈ 1.75" x 2.5".
The lot consists of six loose, unmounted, unframed original photographs only; any stands, marker slips, or other props visible in the listing images are used solely for scale and presentation and are not included.
Condition: Original vintage 1941 American family and beach-life snapshot photographs on paper with typical handling and storage wear from age and use. Image surfaces show mild overall age toning, scattered small marks, and light surface scuffs visible under angled light, with a vertical crease and tiny surface chip near the lower left edge of the rocky-shore portrait, pronounced creasing and small edge dings on the small grass-skirt snapshot, and a small area of surface loss or lifting along the upper margin of the lakeside cabin view. The three-women railing portrait and house-under-construction view display light handling wear with slight corner softening. Backs exhibit age discoloration, scattered spots, numeric lab stamps including 12, 028M, and G 758, adhesive and paper residue from prior mounting, a purple paper remnant on one print, and a pencil date reading July 1941, but all six photos remain structurally sound for album or display use.
