Vintage 60s US Navy Jumper Sz 38 Liberty Cuffs Wool Dress Uniform USS Goodrich:
$38.95
Mint condition vintage US Navy "Cracker Jack" dress blue wool jumper from the 1960’s era, features distinctive embroidered "liberty cuffs" with dragon designs. The dragon embroidery on the cuffs, known as "liberty cuffs," was a popular custom modification made by sailors, particularly while stationed in Asia. They were to be hidden while on duty, and could be flipped over when on liberty leave.
The ship’s name patch on the right arm reads USS Goodrich, a Gearing-class destroyer commissioned from 1945-1972. The label under the sailor collar, as well as a stamp on inner hem, identifies the jumper owner as BW Anderson, service # B5444-69.
The two red diagonal stripes located on the upper left sleeve indicate that the original wearer was a Fireman Apprentice, specifically in the Engineering and Hull branch (often called "Snipes"), which includes roles like Boiler Technicians and Machinist's Mates.
Jumper is made of navy blue wool, with iconic sailor collar with stripes and stars. Stripes and signature US Navy anchor buttons are at the cuffs. Single chest pocket. Jumper is size 36R.
