French Style Rotary Phone
Brass-Tone Metal and Cream Base
French Provincial Style, Mid-20th Century
This decorative rotary telephone features an ornate French Provincial design with a cream-colored base and polished brass-tone hardware. The center of the rotary dial is embellished with a classical rococo-style portrait, a hallmark of the mid-century "boutique" phones produced in the 1960s and 70s to mimic antique European aesthetics. It represents the transition from functional utility to home decor in telecommunications history.
• Ornate brass-tone metal cradle and rotary dial assembly
• Cream-colored tapered base with decorative metal label holder on the front
• Rotary dial features a classical-style portrait under a protective cover
• Matching handset with cream-colored handle and brass-tone accents
• Approximate Dimensions: 9" H x 10" W x 7.5" D
Condition: Untested and sold primarily as a decorative object. The external wall cord is missing from the rear of the base. The brass-tone plating shows moderate surface oxidation and patina wear consistent with age. The cream base has a few small surface marks and light scuffing near the bottom edge. The mechanical rotary dial rotates and returns freely.
