Vintage General Electric 1950s Miniature Vacuum Tape Measure and Pin Holder:
$20.00
While it looks like a toy or a standard holder, it is actually a highly collectible piece of corporate advertising memorabilia designed to look like a mid-century canister vacuum cleaner (the GE "Cord Reel" cleaner model).📜 History & Context
• Purpose: This item was manufactured as a promotional giveaway premium by General Electric. Sales representatives distributed them to prospective customers to advertise the release of their "New Cord Reel Cleaner" canister vacuum.
• Functionality: To tie into the "retractable cord reel" feature of the real vacuum cleaner, the promotional toy mimics the mechanism with a retractable cloth tape measure hidden inside that pulls out like a power cord. The top cover of the hard plastic chassis removes completely, serving as a dual-compartment vanity or sewing storage container designed to hold needles, threaders, pins, and small sewing accessories.
