HULK SMASH… tiny hammer edition.
Big John here.
Now I don’t know much about Japanese art. My decorating style is usually “put a recliner there and call it done.” But even I know quality when I see it.
This vintage Hakata Urasaki craftsman has been sitting around looking like he’s halfway through a hard day’s work and waiting for somebody to hand him another rock to beat on.
The sculpting on this guy is fantastic. Look at that face. He’s got the expression of every contractor after somebody says, “While you’re here…”
Original Hakata Urasaki labels are still on the bottom.
No chips.
No cracks.
No repairs that I can find.
Original paint still looks great.
Just honest vintage age and a little dust from sitting around.
He’s about 10 inches tall and ready for a new shelf where somebody appreciates vintage Japanese folk art more than I appreciate vegetables.
If you’ve been hunting for a Hakata figure you don’t see every day, here’s your chance.
Buy him before I decide he belongs in the break room at Melrose holding everybody accountable.
