Original internal flip-card story/picture reel.

Working hand crank mechanism.

Lockable bottom coin drawer complete with key (stamped 1039 PK 12) and a collection of vintage pennies.

Vintage wooden/metal top marquee sign ("1954 Models 1¢").

Condition

The heavy metal casing features an old yellow paint finish showing a wonderful, authentic patina with expected scuffs, paint chips, and wear from decades of arcade or tavern use.

The top marquee sign has bold red, yellow, and black graphics with minor edge wear and age-related weathering, adding to its vintage character.

The hand crank turns smoothly, and the internal flip-card reel appears intact and correctly seated on the axle hub. The coin drawer lock operates smoothly with the included key.

Historical Placement

Where Were They Used?

These counter-top versions were incredibly versatile because they took up very little space compared to the massive iron-clad floor models from the turn of the century.

You would typically find them in

Penny Arcades & Amusement Piers: Lined up on long wooden counters alongside strength testers, fortune tellers, and early pinball games.

Travel Hubs Train stations, bus terminals, and ferry landings, where travelers waiting for a ride could kill a few minutes by spending a stray penny.

Cigar Shops, Taverns, & Barber Shops: Placed right on the main counter next to the cash register as an "impulse buy" for patrons waiting around or pocketing change.
