Vintage Mid-Century Modern Italian Ceramic Leopard Cubs – Set of 3
Up for sale or purchase is a rare, complete trio of vintage hand-painted Italian majolica terracotta leopard cub figurines. Dating to the 1960s or 1970s, these highly collectible pieces showcase classic Italian craftsmanship with vibrant yellow glazes, hand-painted black spots, and expressive faces.
The set includes three distinct, playful poses:
• Cub 1: Seated cub scratching its head with its hind leg (Approx. 5.5" tall).
• Cub 2: Lying down, curled up tightly looking sideways.
• Cub 3: Playfully resting on its back with all four paws up.
Markings:
The undersides feature the authentic, hand-painted black script mark "ITALY" directly on the raw, unglazed red terracotta clay base. One figurine still retains a vintage numerical stock/retail label.
Condition Notes:
These figurines are in good vintage condition but do show character-defining signs of age. Most notably, one cub has a clean chip on the very tip of its ear, exposing the unglazed orange terracotta underneath. There are also localized areas of light paint flaking, glaze wear, and tiny "flea bites"—primarily around the toes, claws, and raised spot textures. Please review all macro photos carefully as they serve as the definitive description of the condition.
A wonderful addition to any Hollywood Regency, maximalist, or mid-century safari-themed decor! Related Items:
