Vintage Manchester New Hampshire M.H. School Lowell Street PostcardHere we have a nice wide view of Lowell Street looking west from Ash Street in Manchester, New Hampshire. If you look at the left side of the dirt street you will see what the sender confirmed on the back as the M. H. School, better known as Manchester High School. There is a whole row of people just hanging out on the retaining wall, likely students taking a break or waiting for someone to finally invent the smartphone. It is a great snapshot of the city when the streets were still mostly dirt and the trees were massive.
The back of the card features a quick cursive note stating "Another view of the M.H. School" sent to a lady down in Germantown, Philadelphia. It was never mailed with a stamp, so maybe the sender just hand delivered it or tossed it into a larger envelope to save a penny. You will find some pencil dealer marks on the back, along with the expected minor edge wear and soft corners that come with a piece of paper surviving over a century of storage.
