Up for sale is a classic vintage Stanley No. 4 Smoothing Bench Plane. Proudly made in the USA, this is a legendary cast-iron woodworking essential highly favored by cabinet makers and traditional woodworkers for its balance and shaving accuracy.Condition:Good vintage user/restoration condition. The cast iron body features a smooth sole with an honest, dark localized oxidation patina. The original wooden tote and front knob have completely intact structural configurations, though they show typical finish wear and clear, historic paint speckling marks on the wood surfaces from active workshop use (see photos). The frog, brass adjustment dial, and lateral adjustment lever function smoothly. The cutting iron features clear vintage Stanley markings and is ready for a quick sharpen/hone to go straight back to work.
