This is a rare, authentic early production Hook-Fast custom belt buckle dated 1930. The size is 1-1/2” x 2-1/2” and the metal is silver-colored.
It features raised metallic initials "E T R" set against an engine-turned Art Deco patterned background. The center medallion highlights an early occupational machinist emblem featuring a gear enclosing a crossed hammer and wrench. (Initials E T R may be: 1. A Technical Trade School: A graduate's initials or the name of a specific "Technical Training" program;
2. A Regional Railway Maintenance Division: Representing a worker's specialized transit line; or
3. An Industrial Trade Guild / Labor Union: Commemorating the year an apprentice officially earned their full machinist credentials.)
The back features the highly collectible early manufacturer stamp: "HOOK FAST (inside oval) PAT. NO. 1481911 N.Y. CITY". This early New York City branch hallmark predates their widespread Rhode Island manufacturing era, making it a scarce variant for regional exonumia collectors. The patent number corresponds to the original 1924 Manuel Marinho adjustable mechanism patent.
Good vintage condition with a natural age patina. The front text and detailing remain crisp. The back stamping is fully legible with expected surface wear and minor oxidation context consistent with a 90+ year old utility uniform piece. Please see photos for exact condition details.
