Vintage Hammond Postal Telegraph Synchronous Electric Time Wall Clock – Approx. 20”
Original vintage commercial/industrial wall clock manufactured in the USA by the Hammond Clock Company for Postal Telegraph. Dates to approximately the 1930s.
Large clock measures approximately 19.5 inches in diameter and features the classic Postal Telegraph dial with black Arabic numerals, black hour/minute hands, and distinctive red crescent-style seconds hand.
TESTED & RUNNING: Clock was plugged in and tested for approximately one hour. The second hand runs continuously, and the minute and hour hands advanced properly during the test. Video was taken showing the clock operating.
PLEASE NOTE: The rear SET TIME adjustment is not functioning properly. When the adjustment is turned, the minute hand begins to move but does not advance sufficiently to set the clock to the desired time. The clock itself continued to run and advance the hands during testing. The setting mechanism may require adjustment or service. Long-term timekeeping accuracy has not been tested.
The clock retains its vintage electric movement and rear START and SET TIME controls.
Condition: This is an unrestored vintage industrial clock with substantial age and wear. The metal case has heavy paint wear, chipping, scratches, oxidation and multiple older paint layers visible beneath the red finish. The dial shows considerable age-related discoloration, spotting, crazing and wear. Metal components show oxidation/patina. Please examine all photos carefully for condition.
The worn finish has been left as found and has not been repainted or restored.
A great piece of early American electric clock, telegraph, communications, Art Deco and industrial history.
