Photo Overview

Two uniformed officers stand side by side in a black and white photograph taken in 1914, potentially onboard a ship during the Battle of Veracruz. Their uniforms and caps suggest their ranks and roles, possibly corresponding to the titles found on the postcard's back: "3rd Officer" and "Chief of Police." The setting appears to be nautical, reinforcing their naval involvement in World War I, specifically linked to the American Expeditionary Forces.

The Battle of Veracruz in 1914 was a significant U.S. military engagement involving an amphibious assault on the Mexican port city. It arose from tensions between the U.S. and Mexico and played a role in shaping U.S.-Mexico relations. Acquiring this historic photo offers a tangible connection to early 20th-century naval history during WWI, making it a compelling addition for history enthusiasts and collectors.
