Phan Rang Air Base was an important United States Air Force base during the Vietnam War. It is located in the Ninh Thuan Province of Vietnam.
Originally built by the Imperial Japanese Army during WWII, it was rebuilt by the United States Air Force and used during the Vietnam War by both the USAF and the South Vietnamese Air Force. As part of the US withdrawal from Vietnam, the base was turned over to South Vietnam. In April 1975, the People’s Army of Vietnam seized the base, and today it is used by the Vietnam People’s Air Force.
The US 4th Infantry Division ("Ivy Division") operated primarily in the Central Highlands (such as Pleiku and Dak To) during the Vietnam War, while elements of other allied units and the ARVN Airborne's 2nd Brigade made a final stand at Phan Rang in April 1975.

• Area of Operations: Fought across the rugged mountains, jungles, and border regions of the Central Highlands.

This is an original engraved Vietnam Zippo lighter from 1960’s - 1975 Vietnam war era.
The lighter case is in a used condition with some signs of wear.
As the product is an old item, there are scratches and stains from age. Please see the picture for the details or ask me before your purchase.
I can send the lighter with the original insert inside Australia but international post the original insert has to be disassembled and it sometimes is still returned as they deem it as dangerous as it has been used so
For safety reasons and shipping rules, I will ship with the oil removed and disassemble the lighter. (case, inside unit, spring and flint) It’s better anyways as it’s original.
You will need to re-assemble by yourself. It’s easy - if you’re not sure please ask me how.
Overall a very rare and collectible original Vietnam zippo with lots of historical and social significance.
