1866 SANTA CLAUS AND HIS WORKS ~ THOMAS NAST ~ ORIGINAL HARPER'S CENTERFOLD:
$140.00

This is an original centerfold wood-cut engraving taken from the December 29th, 1866 issue of "Harper's Weekly." Title is "Santa Claus And His Works," by the artist/cartoonist Thomas Nast. It measures 16 x 21-1/2 inches. It was in a frame, with matting. I took it out of the frame to examine (frame was very slightly damaged and I discarded it). There are three (3) small pieces of mounting tape at top border that secured the print to matt backing (see scan). There are some small areas around the edges that have archival tape applied, to mend and strengthen the paper. There are some old pale water marks around edges also. Plus vertical fold at center (as published). It looked very nice in the frame, so I know it will "frame nicely" should you wish to do so. As you Nast collectors know, this is an important "Santa Claus" print.
