$49.00
Rare original antique stereoscopic photograph (stereoview) dated September 2, 1907, from the Russian Empire, showing two hunters with rifles and five hunting dogs in a wooded landscape.
The photograph is associated with Sergei Petrovich Rakochi, reportedly a State Councillor connected with Krolevets Uyezd, Chernigov Governorate, in present-day Ukraine.
The handwritten Russian inscription below the stereoscopic images reads:
"Антоновка. Я и Фридрих."
Translation: "Antonovka. Friedrich and I."
The inscription identifies the two hunters as the photographer's or owner's companion Friedrich and the person writing the caption, presumably Sergei Petrovich Rakochi.
The reverse bears an attractive blue oval personal stamp reading:
"Сергей Петрович stamp provides an exact historical date: September 2, 1907.
The photograph was likely taken in the vicinity of Antonovka, Chernigov Governorate, possibly in the Krolevets Uyezd area.
An excellent historical image featuring Imperial Russian hunting traditions, sporting rifles, hunting dogs, period clothing, and early stereoscopic photography.
