1914 ACE Automobile Construction Engineering Co Radiator Emblem Philadelphia:
$975.00
Original circa 1914 ACE Automobile Construction & Engineering Co. automobile emblem from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Research identifies the Automobile Construction & Engineering Co. as an extremely short-lived Philadelphia automobile manufacturer operating in 1914. Historical records list the company at 3322 Ludlow Street, Philadelphia, and indicate that very few automobiles were produced.
The company assembled automobiles using components from established suppliers, making the emblem's “Perfect Units Assembled in Perfect Unity” wording particularly appropriate to the company's method of automobile construction.
Because surviving information and photographs of this manufacturer are extremely limited, the exact original mounting application of this emblem has not been independently confirmed. Identification is based on the full Automobile Construction & Engineering Co. name appearing directly on the emblem and its correspondence with the documented 1914 Philadelphia automobile manufacturer.
Approximately 2" diameter.
Provenance: This emblem was formerly part of the John Webster Collection and subsequently became part of the Shears Automobile Emblem Collection. The Shears catalog noted that the emblem had not previously been fully identified.
Condition: Original vintage condition with very attractive surviving blue, red and white enamel. Age-related surface wear, scratches, discoloration and small imperfections are present. The reverse shows substantial oxidation, staining and remnants consistent with age and previous mounting. Original mounting hardware is not present. Please review all photographs closely for exact condition.
