A wonderful early Disneyland image taken only about a year after the park opened. The photograph captures an adult man and young child riding together in one of Disneyland's streamlined early Autopia cars. Both riders are waving toward the photographer, and the front of the car prominently displays its DISNEYLAND plate between the headlights.
Disneyland’s original Autopia opened with the park on July 17, 1955. In July 1956, a second track called Junior Autopia opened for younger drivers; Disney Legend Bob Gurr designed the cars used for both attractions. Because the reverse identifies this photograph only as “Disneyland 1956,” the exact Autopia track shown has not been confirmed.
The photograph is particularly well dated: the reverse is handwritten:
“Disneyland
1956”
The reverse also carries faint Kodak Velox photographic paper markings. The print has attractive scalloped/deckled edges characteristic of personal snapshots from the period.
The exact Autopia track represented has not been positively determined. Disneyland's original Tomorrowland Autopia was operating throughout 1956, while the separate Junior Autopia opened in July of that year using essentially identical cars, so the listing conservatively identifies the attraction simply as Disneyland Autopia.
A particularly appealing piece of early Disneyland history with excellent crossover interest for collectors of Disneyana, Disneyland photography, Tomorrowland, Autopia, early theme-park history, 1950s Americana and vintage amusement-park photographs.

Condition: Very good vintage condition with light age-related surface and handling wear, minor toning and edge/corner wear. Scalloped edges remain intact. A few light surface scratches/marks are visible in the image, along with minor age spotting. Reverse is handwritten “Disneyland 1956” and has faint Kodak Velox paper markings. Image remains strong, sharp and highly displayable. Please review all photographs carefully for exact condition.
