Budd "TurboLiner" - the world's first turbine-driven rail car. This test car for the Long Island Railroad is powered by two 535-horsepower airplane-type gas turbine engines built by the Garrett Corporation's AiResearch Division. Engines are under the car, geared directly to the wheels at each end. There is no "jet scream" or dust, and no noticeable vibration or odor. Sound level is comparable with other methods of railcar propulsion. Photo measures 10 x 8.25 inches. Photo is dated --1966. PHOTO FRONT
