1987 Bob Cargill Cripple Creek three-backspring whittler, produced in Old Fort, Tennessee, for the Hawkeye Knife Collectors Club. This is the club's Second Edition knife, individually numbered 017 of just 100 produced.

The knife features three carbon steel blades, each operating on its own independent backspring, distinguishing it from the more common split-back whittler construction. It measures approximately 3 5/8 inches closed and is fitted with genuine stag handle scales displaying particularly pronounced, deeply textured bark with rich dark brown coloration contrasting against the lighter natural stag. Additional details include nickel silver bolsters, brass liners, and Cripple Creek's traditional buffalo shield.

The master blade bears the Hawkeye Knife Collectors Club Second Edition 1987 etching, along with its individual serial number, 017, and is tang stamped Cripple Creek Old Fort U.S.A. The secondary blade carries the circular Cripple Creek 87 date stamp.

Bob Cargill established Cripple Creek Cutlery in Lockport, Illinois, in 1981, specializing in traditional American pocketknife patterns. Production moved to Old Fort, Tennessee, in 1987, where Cargill continued manufacturing knives until the company's sale to Blackjack Knives. This example dates to the first year of the Old Fort production period.

Now nearly 40 years old, this knife remains in never used, carried, or sharpened condition. All three blades have good snap and functional half stops. The knife retains its original blade profiles and features particularly well-figured natural stag.
