Ada Ohio Touring Car 1908 Brass Era Antique Automobile - RPPC Photo Postcard:
$60.00

A 5.5x3.5" vintage RPPC photo postcard from the estate of a vintage automobile postcard collector. This was part of a huge collection of antique postcards.

Photo Overview

This real photo postcard captures an early brass-era touring automobile parked on a dirt street in Ada, Ohio, dated 1908 in period ink on the front. A gentleman sits behind the large wooden steering wheel of the open touring car, which features a folding fabric top, acetylene and oil lamps mounted low on the front, wooden artillery-style spoke wheels with white tires, a round oval window in the rear side curtain, and a tall brass-trimmed radiator. The handwritten caption identifies the occupants as "Daddy + Frank" in front of a large two-story clapboard house with a wraparound porch and turned porch posts.

The car appears to be a large four-cylinder touring model consistent with the substantial mid-price American makes of 1907-1909 such as Buick, Reo, or a similar right-hand-drive tonneau touring car of the era. The white pneumatic tires, side-mounted lamps, and heavy folding top are all hallmarks of a well-appointed automobile from the dawn of American motoring. A genuine photographic postcard on AZO stock with an all-original untrimmed image, this is a desirable piece for antique automobile collectors, Ohio local history enthusiasts, and family history researchers.
