Up for sale/sale is a beautiful original mid-19th-century 1/6 plate cased photograph featuring a poignant portrait of two young girls (likely sisters) dressed in matching Victorian garments.**Highlight Hardware Feature:Unlike common variants with simple wire loops or plain flat side hooks, this specimen features two highly unique, exterior-mounted ornate metal clasps with stylized scalloped profiling. The decorative hardware remains entirely intact and firmly anchored to the side profile.Details & Condition:• Image: Clear details on the subjects' faces and matching plaid/checkered dresses. Shows normal historical age wear, light surface dust, and minor perimeter flaking/halo common with hard-plate photographs of this vintage.• Case: Housed in its original leather/leatherette-covered wood frame featuring an elegantly embossed floral bouquet on both sides. The interior features a vibrant, plush burnt-orange velvet cushion with a central wreath design.• Condition Note: The case shows visible historical wear, including spine separation (the two halves are detached/split at the spine, which is typical for items of this age) and some surface chipping/peeling on the outer edges revealing the wood structure beneath. An excellent, authentic addition to any collection of early photography, Civil War-era Americana, or 19th-century decorative hardware.
