$129.95
Striking antique cased photograph, believed to be an ambrotype dating circa 1855–1865, depicting three young women posed together, two seated with the third standing behind them.
Features vivid pink hand-tinted cheeks and gold-colored highlights on their brooches and jewelry. Their carefully arranged hairstyles, contrasting collars, and dark dresses create a memorable early photographic portrait.
A handwritten identification strip accompanies the image. Names appear to include Lydia, Mary, and Emily; the complete inscription and the subjects’ relationship have not been verified.
Housed in a decorative embossed case with a patterned velvet lining, ornate gold-tone photographic surround, and two hook closures. Measures approximately 4" × 3.5" closed.
Condition shows image haze, scattered spotting, scratches, and pronounced horizontal surface lines visible in the photographs. The identification strip has tears and missing portions. Case exhibits rubbing, scuffs, and edge wear. Please review all photographs carefully.
An appealing addition to an early photography, Victorian portrait, or genealogy collection.
